Former Scoville Brass Manufacturing Complex,
Waterbury, CT
Consisting of 90 buildings on a 95 acre site. This was the largest demolition project in the United States for that year. The structures consisted of concrete and wood manufacturing buildings, warehouses, tanks, storage silos, office complexes and a power plant. The site was contaminated with PCBs, lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury. In addition to performing the demolition at the site, Stamford Wrecking held the contract to remediate all surfaces containing hazardous paints and also the areas where chemical spills from historic manufacturing processes had occurred. The work was completed six months ahead of schedule. The site is now the home of the Waterbury Brass Center Mall.
